Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in the year 2017 and was the most streamed song within six months. It was a blend of pop and reggaeton which not only brought attention to Latin Music, but as well reggaeton. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish tracks in 2016 and two songs in 2015. The Despacito song was at its peak popularity in 2017 however 19 mostly Spanish songs made it to the Top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 of them. After Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017, famous artists started to work with reggaeton musicians. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated on MIA (2018), while Madonna joined forces with Maluma for Medellin 2019, which was released in 2019. The gradual mainstreaming of reggaeton became an issue for certain performers by 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, were keen to keep the look. He incorporated electronic dance styles and other genres into his songs.
